About

I have been a photographer since 1978 when I purchased my first camera, a Canon AE1 with a 50mm lens. I then took classes to learn how to develop my own film and print my photos in a Dark Room

Throughout the next few years I met several, more experienced, photographers who taught me about the many aspects of the art. Aspects like exposure, framing, focus, depth of field and composition.

In 1980 I used the skills I had learned to gain a position at a local newspaper where I also learned that I enjoyed writing news articles. Within 6 months at the newspaper I started writing along side my photography and soon became a Photojournalist.

Becoming proficient in my craft I obtained a teaching position at a local collage teaching photography. My teaching method is based on what a camera sees and how it processes it. Since a camera does not see objects like the human eye does, I like to teach students to see things the same way the camera sees them, not the human eye.

I use this same theory when I use my camera. I love capturing images of moments in time, giving others an opportunity to re-live in there minds that moment, whenever they see the image.
